Pioneers of Aethora is a so called PBBG, which means Persistent Browser Based Game. It's specifically a tactical-RPG in a fantasy world. You control a group of 8 characters, 4 of which form your active party. Your active party can combat to complete missions and quests. It's possible to switch characters in and out the active party at any time except during battles. Each one of your party characters has many skills ranging from melee combat skills, blades, maces and so on, to magic skills like elemental control, physical manipulation and forces control. All this skills can be combined together depending on the objects your characters are wielding, weapons, staves or other magic artifacts. So you can combine stone and fire to cast a jet of lava, or combine air and plant powers to create a cloud of poisonous spores. Characters can improve their skills using them during battles. Your advancements are always saved and you can go on your adventure whenever you want. Battles are always against computer-controlled enemies, so... no PvP combats. The only in-game interaction between players is the marketplace where everyone can buy or sell items.
